On our recent trip to Montana, we spent a night in Bozeman. While there I visited Stix, the local yarn store. You know there is a yarn store nearby when you see the tree covered in pieces from a Granny Afghan.
When I arrived, one of the owners, Tracy St. John, was unpacking a shipment of 300 pounds of yarn from Malabrigio, Rowan, Cascade, Madelinetosh, Berroco, Universal and more. Ooolala! How I wanted to help!
Stix carries local yarn dyed by Western Sky Knits (a local dyer who is 45 minutes away), Raven Ridge and Mountain Colors which is also very close, in the Bitterroot Valley, specifically Corvallis, Montana. They also carry Montana Bison in natural colors.
Stix also carries luxury yarns such as these from ArtYarns and many weights and colorways of Madelinetosh.
There are also a number of basic and not so basic yarns from Cascade, Berocco and others.
Currently, Stix is conducting a mystery knit along with Stephen West called Color Craving. Sounds like fun.
Stix allows exchanges of needles within 5 days so that knitters can be sure that they have the right needle for the gauge they need. That’s a bonus I don’t remember seeing anywhere else.
If you are in Bozeman, stop in for a visit, maybe you will meet some of the Stix Chix.

Thanks for dropping by. I’m off to more KnitKnot Adventures.
